The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4 p.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Busson, Deacon (Ontario), Gerba, Greene, Harder, P.C., Housakos, Loffreda, MacDonald, Richards, Simons and Woo (12).

Participating in the meeting: Brian Hermon and Nadia Faucher, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, October 17, 2022, the committee continued its comprehensive review of the provisions and operation of the Sergei Magnitsky Law and of the Special Economic Measures Act.

Craig Martin, Professor and co-Director of the International and Comparative Law Center, Washburn University School of Law.

Angelina Mason made a statement and, together with Stephen Alsace, answered questions.

Michael Nesbitt and Craig Martin each made a statement and answered questions.
