The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 4:01 p.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Boniface, Coyle, Deacon (Ontario), Gerba, Harder, P.C., Housakos, MacDonald, Ravalia, Richards and Woo (11).

Participating in the meeting: Chantal Cardinal, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate; Nadia Faucher and Fotini-Hellas Diamandis, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 27, 2023, the committee continued its consideration of the subject matter of those elements contained in Divisions 4, 5 10 and 11 of Part 4, and in Subdivision A of Division 3 of Part 4 of Bill C-47, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 28, 2023.

Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives:

Stuart Trew, Researcher.

Trade Facilitation Office Canada:

Steve Tipman, Executive Director.

Yannick Mondy made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the committee resumed.

Stuart Trew and Steve Tipman each made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
