The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 11:31 a.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boniface, Coyle, Gerba, Greene, Kutcher, MacDonald, Ravalia and Woo (8).
Participating in the meeting: Zachariah Black and Brian Hermon, analysts, Library of Parliament.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absences of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator MacDonald moved that the Honourable Senator Boniface be the acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The acting chair took the chair.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, October 26, 2023, the committee continued its study on Canada’s interests and engagement in Africa.

Thomas Kwasi Tieku and Judith McCallum each made a statement and answered questions.
At 12:28 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
