The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 9 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Josée Verner, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Arnot, Cardozo, Fridhandler, Galvez, McCallum, Miville-Dechêne, Robinson, Verner, P.C. and Wells (Newfoundland and Labrador) (9).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Moreau (1).

Participating in the meeting: Jesse Good and Avalon Jennings, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 24, 2022, the committee continued its study on emerging issues related to the committee’s mandate. (Topic: Net-Zero Advisory Body - September 2024 Reports)

Judy Meltzer, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Environmental Protection Branch.

At 9:03 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:08 a.m., the committee resumed.

Simon Donner and Anna Kanduth each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:11 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:12 a.m., the committee resumed.

Vincent Ngan made a statement and, together with Judy Meltzer, answered questions.

At 11:03 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
