The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Claude Carignan P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carignan, P.C., Dalphond, Forest, Galvez, Kingston, LaBoucane-Benson, Loffreda, MacAdam, Moreau, Pate, Ross and Smith (12).

Participating in the meeting: Sylvain Fleury and Shaowei Pu, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police:

Bryan Larkin, Senior Deputy Commissioner, Specialized Policing Services;

Samantha Hazen, Chief Financial Officer.

Public Safety Canada:

Patrick Amyot, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Management Branch and Chief Financial Officer;

Greg Kenney, Assistant Deputy Minister, Firearms Program;

Sébastien Aubertin-Giguère, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, National and Cyber Security Branch;

Chris Moran, Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Policing;

Douglas May, Senior Director, Program Operations, Emergency Management and Programs Branch;

Chad Westmacott, Director General, Community Safety, Corrections and Criminal Justice, Crime Prevention Branch.

Michael Hammond, Bryan Larkin and Patrick Amyot each made a statement and, together with Douglas May, Sébastien Aubertin-Giguère, Greg Kenney, Chad Westmacott, Samantha Hazen, Mark Quinlan and Chris Moran, answered questions.

At 10:53 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
