The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the deputy chair, the Honourable Éric Forest, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Forest, Galvez, Loffreda, MacAdam, Marshall, Pate and Smith (8).

Participating in the meeting: André Léonard and Shaowei Pu, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the committee continued its examination of expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.

WITNESSES:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada:

Nathalie Manseau, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer;

Soyoung Park, Assistant Deputy Minister, Asylum and Refugee Resettlement.

Statistics Canada:

Kathleen Mitchell, Assistant Chief Statistician and Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Strategy and Management;

Martin Chapman, Acting Director General, Finance, Planning and Procurement.

Canada Border Services Agency:

Jonathan Moor, Vice-President, Financial and Corporate Management Branch;

Bradley Bélanger, Director General, Transformation, Planning and Integration, Intelligence and Enforcement Branch.

Correctional Service Canada:

Tony Matson, Assistant Commissioner, Corporate Services;

France Gratton, Assistant Commissioner, Correctional Operations and Programs;

Jay Pyke, Acting Senior Deputy Commissioner.

Jonathan Moor, Kathleen Mitchell, Nathalie Manseau and Tony Matson each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
