The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 5:01 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Clement, Dagenais, Mégie, Mockler and Moncion (5).
Participating in the meeting: Catlin Seibel-Kamél, Legislative Clerk, Committees Directorate; Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Library of Parliament.
The clerk informed the committee of the unavoidable absences of the chair and deputy chair and presided over the election of an acting chair.
The Honourable Senator Dagenais moved that the Honourable Senator Moncion be the acting chair.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The acting chair took the chair.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 9, 2023, the committee continued its study of matters relating to minority-language health services.

The Honourable Senator Mégie moved that, notwithstanding usual practice and pursuant to rule 12-17, the committee be authorized to hold today’s meeting without quorum, if necessary, for the purpose of receiving evidence, provided that two committee members are present.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
Frantz Siméon made a statement and, together with Sylvie Larocque and Bernouse Davilus, answered questions.
At 5:55 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 6:01 p.m., the committee resumed.
Suzanne Dupuis-Blanchard and Mario Paris each made a statement and answered questions.
At 7:01 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
