The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 9:03 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Ataullahjan, Busson, Cordy, Francis, Manning, Quinn, Ravalia and Ringuette (8).
Participating in the meeting: Natacha Umugwaneza, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the committee began its examination of Canada’s seal populations and seal harvest.

Bernard Vigneault, Director General, Ecosystem Sciences Directorate, Ecosystems and Oceans Science;

William Mcgillivray, Regional Director General, Newfoundland and Labrador Region (by videoconference);
Adwaite Tiwary, Director, Trade and International Market Access (by videoconference).
Adam Burns made a statement and, together with Bernard Vigneault, Rebecca Reid, Adwaite Tiwary and William Mcgillivray, answered questions.
