The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 9:04 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington Street, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Busson, Cordy, Francis, Kutcher, Manning, McPhedran, Quinn and Ravalia (8).

Participating in the meeting: Annie Trudel, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the committee continued its examination of Canada’s seal populations and seal harvest.

Kris Vascotto, Executive Director.

Guysborough County Inshore Fishermen’s Association:

Ginny Boudreau, Executive Director.

Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association:

Laura Ramsay, Research & Liaison Officer.

Robert Hardy, Fisheries Consultant.

Kris Vascotto, Robert Hardy, Ginny Boudreau and Laura Ramsay each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:41 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
