The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 9:02 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington Street, the deputy chair, the Honourable Bev Busson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Busson, Cordy, Francis, Kutcher, McPhedran and Quinn (6).

Participating in the meeting: Lyne Héroux, Logistics Officer, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the committee continued its examination of Canada’s seal populations and their effect on Canada's fisheries.

WITNESSES:

Global Affairs Canada:

Jordan Reeves, Director General, Trade Sectors;

Sarah Pye, Executive Director, Agriculture, Ecommerce, Intellectual Property, Mining, Responsive Sectors, and Bureau Coordination;

Nigel Neale, Director, Inclusive Trade, Free Trade Agreement Promotion and Trade Missions Division; and

Marc-André Savage, Policy Advisor, Trade Sectors.

Jordan Reeve made a statement and, together with Sarah Pye and Nigel Neale, answered questions.

At 10:28 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:29 a.m., the committee resumed.

At 10:31 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
