THE STANDING SENATE COMMITTEE ON FISHERIES AND OCEANS

EVIDENCE

OTTAWA, Thursday, February 2, 2023

The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met with videoconference this day at 9:05 a.m. [ET], in camera, for the consideration of a draft agenda (future business); and, in public, to examine and report on Canada’s seal populations and their effect on Canada’s fisheries.

Senator Fabian Manning (Chair) in the chair.

(The committee continued in camera.)

(The committee resumed in public.)

The Chair: Is it agreed that the $172,560 budget application for travel to Newfoundland and Labrador, Clarenville, Elliston, South Dildo and St. John’s for a fact-finding mission and public hearings in St. John’s be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration? All agreed? Okay. Thank you, senators.

The budget will now be submitted to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration to be reviewed by the Subcommittee on Senate Estimates and Committee Budgets — hopefully very soon so we can get our planning put in place. Certainly, we will have it to them as quickly as we can.

(The committee adjourned.)
