The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day at 5:03 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Wanda Bernard, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Arnot, Ataullahjan, Bernard, Gerba, Robinson and Simons (6).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Senior (1).

Participating in the meeting: Caroline Woodward, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate; Robert Mason, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 3, 2022, the committee continued its study of such issues as may arise from time to time relating to human rights generally. (Topic: Aging Out of Foster Care)

Jessica Knutson, Leader, Clinical Education and Special Projects, Indigenous Health, BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Provincial Health Services Authority, British Columbia.

Barbara Fallon and Ashley Vandermorris made a statement together and answered questions. Ingrid Palmer made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:58 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:04 p.m., the committee resumed.

At 6:04 p.m., the chair, the Honourable Salma Ataullahjan, took the chair.

At 6:59 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
