Pursuant to the order of the Senate of May 5, 2022, the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference, at 11:02 a.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Diane Bellemare, presiding.

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Audette, Batters, Bellemare, Black, Busson, Cordy, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Greene, Lankin, P.C., Massicotte, Mockler, Wells and Woo (14).

Other senators present by videoconference: The Honourable Senator Petitclerc (1).

Participating in the meeting:  Emily Barrette, Procedural Clerk, Chamber Operations and Procedure Office; Ginette Ricard, Attendance and Administration Assistant, Office of the Clerk of the Senate; Stephanie Feldman and Erin Virgint, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee continued its consideration of possible amendments to the Rules.  (Topic: Committee mandates)

WITNESS (by videoconference):

The Honourable Senator Chantal Petitclerc, former Chair, Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.

The Honourable Senator Petitclerc made a statement and answered questions.

The committee discussed a draft agenda (future business).

At 12:46 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
