Pursuant to the order of the Senate of May 5, 2022, the Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference, at 9:02 a.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Diane Bellemare, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Audette, Bellemare, Boisvenu, Deacon (Ontario) and Lankin, P.C. (5).
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Batters, Busson, Housakos, Petitclerc, Ringuette, Saint- Germain and Wells (7).
Participating in the meeting: Emily Barrette, Procedural Clerk, Chamber Operations and Procedure Office; Ginette Ricard, Attendance and Administration Assistant, Office of the Clerk of the Senate; Stephanie Feldman and Erin Virgint, analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee considered possible amendments to the Rules.

Gérald Lafrenière, Till Heyde and Charles Feldman answered questions.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that the in camera portion of the meeting be transcribed.
It was agreed that senators’ staff be permitted to remain during the in camera meeting.
At 11 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
