The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:34 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Denise Batters, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Black, Boisvenu, Busson, Cordy, Kutcher, Marwah, Ringuette, Saint-Germain and Wells (10).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Boniface, Dean and Richards (3).

Participating in the meeting: Erin Virgint and François Delisle, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee continued its consideration of possible amendments to the Rules. (Topic: Committee structure and mandates)

WITNESSES:

The Honourable Senator Tony Dean, Chair, Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs;

The Honourable Senator Gwen Boniface, Former Chair, Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs;

The Honourable Senator David Richards, Chair, Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs.

The Honourable Senators Dean, Boniface and Richards each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:32 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
