The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:31 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Diane Bellemare, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Black, Busson, Cordy, Greene, Kutcher, Mégie, Omidvar, Ringuette, Saint-Germain, Wells and Woo (13).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Arnot, Francis and Tannas (3).

Participating in the meeting: François Delisle and Erin Virgint, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee continued its consideration of possible amendments to the Rules. (Topic: Committee structure and mandates)

WITNESSES:

The Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, former senator, former committee chair;

The Honourable Senator Brian Francis, Chair, Standing Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples;

The Honourable Senator David M. Arnot, Deputy Chair, Standing Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples;

The Honourable Dan Christmas, former senator, former chair, Standing Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples (by videoconference).

The Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:22 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 10:27 a.m., the committee resumed.

The Honourable Senators Francis and Arnot and the Honourable Dan Christmas each made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:13 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
