The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:33 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Diane Bellemare, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Black, Busson, Kutcher, MacDonald, Mégie, Omidvar, Ringuette, Saint-Germain, Wells and Woo (12).

Participating in the meeting: François Delisle and Erin Virgint, analysts, Library of Parliament.

The chair presided over the election of the deputy chair.

The Honourable Senator Woo moved that the Honourable Senator Kutcher be deputy chair of the committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(a), the committee continued its consideration of possible amendments to the Rules. (Topic: Committee structure and mandates)

The committee considered a draft report.

It was agreed that the report, as amended, be adopted in both official languages.

At 10:45 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
