The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met  this day at 9 a.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Julie Miville-Dechêne, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cardozo, Dasko, Miville-Dechêne, Quinn, Richards and Simons (6).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Patterson (Nunavut) (1).

Participating in the meeting: Jed Chong and Khamla Heminthavong, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the committee continued its study on the impacts of climate change on critical infrastructure in the transportation and communications sectors and the consequential impacts on their interdependencies.

WITNESSES:

Town of Norman Wells:

Frank Pope, Mayor.

Government of the Northwest Territories:

Tracy St. Denis, Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs and Services, Department of Infrastructure (by videoconference).

HRN Contracting Limited:

David Hodgson, President.

Boiler Controls and Installations Limited:

Jason Balaski, President.

Frank Pope made a statement and answered questions.

At 9:51 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 9:54 a.m., the committee resumed.

Tracy St. Denis, David Hodgson and Jason Balaski each made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:48 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
