The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:32 a.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adler, Al Zaibak, Ataullahjan, Boehm, Boniface, Gerba, Harder, P.C., Hébert, MacDonald, Ravalia, Wilson and Woo (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators McNair and Pupatello (2).

Participating in the meeting: Brian Hermon and Zachariah Black, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the committee began its study on foreign relations and international trade generally. (Topic: CUSMA and Canada's trade relationships with the United States and Mexico)

APPEARING:

WITNESSES:

Global Affairs Canada:

Rob Stewart, Deputy Minister of International Trade;

Martin Moen, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Trade Policy and Negotiations;

Lynn McDonald, Director General, North America Trade Policy Bureau;

Pierre Marier, Director General, Market Access and Trade Controls Bureau.

The minister made a statement and, together with Rob Stewart, answered questions.

At 11:38 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:41 a.m., the committee resumed.

Martin Moen answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
