The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 10:31 a.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adler, Al Zaibak, Ataullahjan, Boehm, Coyle, Dasko, Deacon (Ontario), Gerba, Harder, P.C., Hébert, MacDonald, Ravalia and Wilson (13).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Youance (1).

Participating in the meeting: Brian Hermon and Valérie Chevrier-Marineau, Analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the committee continued its examination of Bill S-214, An Act to amend the Special Economic Measures Act (disposal of foreign state assets).

It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-214.

It was agreed that the title stand postponed.

It was agreed that clause 1 carry.

It was agreed that clause 2 carry.

It was agreed that clause 3 carry.

It was agreed that clause 4 carry.

It was agreed that clause 5 carry.

It was agreed that clause 6 carry.

It was agreed that the title carry.

The chair asked whether the bill shall carry.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted on the following vote:

At 10:55 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:30 a.m., the committee resumed.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the committee continued its study of foreign relations and international trade generally. (Topic: Situation in Haiti)
