The Standing Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples met this day at 9:01 a.m., in room C128, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Michèle Audette, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Audette, Clement, Francis, Greenwood, Karetak-Lindell, McCallum, Pate, Prosper, Sorensen and Tannas (10).
Participating in the meeting: Sara Fryer and Allison Lowenger, Analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the committee began its consideration of Bill S-225, An Act to establish National Thanadelthur Day.
WITNESSES:

The Honourable Senator McCallum, Grand Chief Garrison Settee and Grand Chief Walter Wastesicoot each made a statement and, together with Kevin Carlson and Lucy Antsanen, answered questions.
At 10:05 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:15 a.m., the committee resumed.
Lucy Antsanen and Modest Antsanen each made a statement and answered questions.
At 10:52 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:55 a.m., the committee resumed.

At 10:56 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 10:59 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft agenda (future business).
