The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Commerce and the Economy met in camera this day at 4:30 p.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Clément Gignac, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dalphond, Fridhandler, Gignac, Henkel, Loffreda, Martin, McBean, Pupatello, Ringuette, Varone, Wallin and Yussuff (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Deacon (Nova Scotia) (1).

Participating in the meeting: Adriane Yong and Brett Howard, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that, for the duration of the session, each committee member be accompanied by one member of their staff at in camera meetings, unless otherwise agreed to by the committee.

It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of the in camera meeting today, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members or staff, and that the audio recording be destroyed by the clerk of the committee when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

It was agreed that the chair be authorized to seek authority from the Senate for a general order of reference.

It was agreed that the agenda for the meeting of Thursday, September 25, 2025, be modified to include clause-by-clause consideration of Bill S-1001, An Act to authorize Gore Mutual Insurance Company to apply to be continued as a body corporate under the laws of the Province of Quebec.

It was agreed that the chair be authorized to seek authority from the Senate for an order of reference to conduct a special study related to housing.

At 6:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
