The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 6:30 p.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Joan Kingston, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Coyle, Fridhandler, Galvez, Kingston, Lewis, McCallum, Verner, P.C., Wilson and Youance (9).

Participating in the meeting: Emilie Doyon and Sarah Lemelin-Bellerose, Analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-4, An Act to amend the Energy Efficiency Act.

WITNESSES (by videoconference):

Efficiency Canada:

    Sarah Riddell, Senior Policy Research Associate, Appliance and Equipment Efficiency.

Canadian Environmental Law Association:

Theresa McClenaghan, Executive Director and Counsel.

The Atmospheric Fund:

Bryan Purcell, Vice-President of Policy and Programs.

Sarah Riddell, Theresa McClenaghan and Bryan Purcell each made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:41 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
