The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 5:01 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Claude Carignan, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cardozo, Carignan, P.C., Dalphond, Forest, Gignac, Hébert, MacAdam, Oudar, Robinson and Ross (10).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Pupatello (1).
Participating in the meeting: Michaël Lambert-Racine and André Léonard, Analysts, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-30, An Act to implement certain provisions of the spring economic update tabled in Parliament on April 28, 2026.
It was agreed that the committee proceed to clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-30.
It was agreed that the title stand postponed.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, stand postponed.
With leave and pursuant to rule 12-20(4), it was agreed that the clauses be grouped according to the 3 parts of the bill as described in the Table of Provisions of Bill C-30.
It was agreed that Part 1, entitled Amendments to the Income Tax Act and the Income Tax Regulations, which contains clauses 2 to 10, carry.
It was agreed that Part 2, entitled Amendments Relating to the Fuel Excise Tax Relief and the Alcohol Excise Duty Relief, which contains clauses 11 to 17, carry.
It was agreed that Part 3, entitled Various Measures, which contains clauses 18 to 60, carry.
It was agreed that clause 1, which contains the short title, carry.
It was agreed that the title carry.
It was agreed that the bill carry.
It was agreed that observations be appended to the committee's report.
It was agreed that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the observations being appended to the report, in both official languages, taking into consideration today’s discussion and with any necessary editorial, grammatical or translation changes as required.
It was agreed that the chair report Bill C-30, without amendment and with observations, to the Senate, in both official languages, at the earliest opportunity.
At 5:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
