The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 6:36 p.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boudreau, Busson, Cuzner, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Dhillon, Manning, Poirier, Prosper, Ravalia and Surette (10).

Participating in the meeting: Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament; Monica Granados, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the committee continued its study of ocean carbon sequestration and its use in Canada.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft report.

It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of the in camera meeting today, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members and/or staff, and that the recording be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

It was agreed that the chair would request an extension on the date of the final report in relation to its study on ocean carbon sequestration and its use in Canada from December 31, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

At 8:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
