EVIDENCE

OTTAWA, Monday, December 8, 2025

The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met this day at 4:02 p.m. [ET] to examine and report on antisemitism in Canada (election of an acting chair); and, in camera, for the consideration of a draft report.

[English]

Caroline Woodward, Clerk of the Committee: Honourable senators, as the clerk of your committee, it is my duty to inform you of the unavoidable absence of the chair and the deputy chair, and to preside over the election of an acting chair.

I am ready to receive a nomination to that effect. Are there any nominations?

Senator K. Wells: I nominate Senator Coyle.

Ms. Woodward: Are there any other nominations?

Seeing none, it is moved by the Honourable Senator Wells that the Honourable Senator Coyle do take the chair of this committee.

Is it your pleasure, honourable senators, to adopt the motion?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

Ms. Woodward: Carried. I invite the Honourable Senator Coyle to take the chair.

Senator Mary Coyle, (Acting Chair) in the chair.

The Acting Chair: Thank you. Good evening. Thank you, everyone. I’m pleased to be here as acting chair for this evening.

Is it agreed that we continue in camera to discuss a draft report?

Hon. Senators: Agreed.

The Acting Chair: Wonderful.

(The committee continued in camera.)
