The Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs met this day at 11:01 a.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Marty Deacon, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Al Zaibak, Anderson, Cardozo, Carignan, P.C., Dasko, Deacon (Ontario), Hay, McNair, Patterson, Ravalia, Youance and Yussuff (12).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Busson (1).

Participating in the meeting: Anne-Marie Therrien-Tremblay and Andrés León, Analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 28, 2026, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the National Defence Act and other Acts.

At 11:11 a.m., the committee suspended.

At 11:16 a.m., the committee resumed.

Major (retired) Dr. Karen Breeck, Heather Vanderveer, Major (retired) Donna Van Leusden and Captain (retired) Hélène Le Scelleur each made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the committee resumed.

Colonel (retired) Bruce MacGregor, Fiona Wilson and Megan MacKenzie each made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
