The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Larry W. Smith, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Arnold, Aucoin, Cormier, Dasko, Lewis, Miville-Dechêne, Mohamed, Quinn, Simons, Smith and Wilson (11).

Participating in the meeting: Geneviève Gosselin, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the committee continued its study on the maintenance of activities or essential services in the federally regulated rail and marine sectors in the case of labour disruptions.

WITNESSES:

Canadian Fuels Association:

David Schick, Vice-President, Western Canada, Innovation and Regulatory Affairs.

Canadian Propane Association:

Katie Kachur, Vice-President, Government Relations, West (by videoconference).

Canada Industrial Relations Board:

Maryse Tremblay, Chairperson.

David Schick and Katie Kachur each made a statement and answered questions.

At 7:45 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:50 p.m., the committee resumed.

Maryse Tremblay made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:42 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
