The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Senator Daniel Hays, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Landry, Rossiter, Riel and Taylor. (5)

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Research Officer.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture:

Jack Wilkinson, President;

Sally Rutherford, Executive Director.

Pursuant to its order of reference to study the present state and future of agriculture in Canada, consideration of issues as raised by the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

Jack Wilkinson from Canadian Federation of Agriculture made a brief presentation and, with Sally Rutherford, answered questions.

Following the questioning of the witnesses, the Committee discussed future business. It was agreed to invite officials from the Ontario Cattlemen's Association for June 13.

At 10:34 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
