The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met, in camera, this day at 9:15 a.m., the Chairman, the Honourable William Rompkey, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, De Bané, P.C., DeWare, Di Nino, Forrestall, LeBreton, Maheu, Nolin, Poulin, Robichaud, P.C. (Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Rompkey, P.C., Stollery, Taylor and Wood (14).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate, and other Senate officials.

At 9:17 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera with senators only.

At 10:50 a.m., the committee adjourned till Tuesday, December 9, 1997.

Budgets -- Foreign Affairs Committee

Senator Stollery, on behalf of Senator Stewart, presented the budget applications of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

It was agreed that the budget applications be approved as follows: Legislation ($4,100); Asia-Pacific Region ($21,200); European Monetary Union ($31,200).

Budget -- Special Committee on Post-Secondary Education

Senator Bonnell presented the budget application of the Special Committee on Post-Secondary Education.

It was agreed that the budget application of the Special Committee on Post-Secondary Education be approved ($11,500).

At 10:25 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera.

At 10:30 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera with senators only.

At 10:47 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
