The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules and Orders met in camera at 5:20 p.m. this day, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Maheu, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bacon, Joyal, Kelly, Kenny, Maheu, Milne and Rossiter (7).
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules and Orders met at 3:55 p.m. this day, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Maheu, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bacon, Beaudoin, Cools De Bané, DeWare, Grafstein, Joyal, Kenny, Maheu and Robertson (10).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bolduc, Di Nino, Johnson, Lavoie-Roux, Oliver, Prud'homme and Wilson (8).
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee resumed its consideration of the restructuring of Senate committees.
After debate,
It was agreed that staff prepare a document outlining the number of bills referred to each committee, hours spent in committee, et cetera, as well as a comparison with the committee system in the United States Congress.
It was agreed that further consideration be adjourned until after the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure (Steering Committee), in consultation with the Senate leadership, has met to explore ways of arriving at an acceptable structure model.
At 6:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
