The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, at 11:05 a.m., the Acting Chair, the Honourable Yves Morin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cook, Cordy, Fairbairn, P.C., Keon, Morin and Pépin (6).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Comeau, Gauthier and Losier-Cool (3).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 6, 2001, the committee began its consideration of the document entitled ``Santé en français — Pour un meilleur accès à des services de santé en français.'' (For complete text of Order of Reference see Proceedings of the Committee, Issue No. 50.)

Mr. Marcel Nouvet, Assistant Deputy Minister, Information Analysis and Connectivity Branch;

Mr. Michel Léger, Executive Director, Strategic Alliances and Priorities Division, Information Analysis and Connectivity Branch.

The Acting Chairman made a statement.

Mr. Nouvet made a statement and, together with Mr. Léger, answered questions.
