The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met, in camera at 9:32 a.m this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding, for the purpose of discussing a draft report.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators, Biron, Bolduc, Comeau, Cools, Day, Doody, Ferretti Barth, Finnerty, Gauthier, Mahovlich, Murray, P.C. (11).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

The committee undertook discussion of its draft report on Supplementary Estimates (A). 2002-2003.

It was moved by the Honourable Senator Ferretti-Barth that the draft report on Supplementary Estimates (A) 2002- 2003 as revised by the committee be adopted and be presented by the Chairman to the Senate after approval of the revised draft by the Sub-committee on Agenda and Procedure.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 10:14 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESS:

From Industry Canada:

Dr. Marshall Moffat, Director, Knowledge Infrastructure, Innovation Policy Branch.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 5, 2002, the committee undertook its examination of the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003.

The committee began its examination of financing of foundations in this session, continuing its study started in the First Session.

Dr. Moffat made a presentation and answered questions from members of the committee.

At 11:12 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
