The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 6:31 p.m, this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Comeau, Cools, Day, Fraser, Gauthier, Lynch- Staunton, Milne, Murray, P.C. Smith, P.C., and Wiebe (11).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Cook and Setlakwe (2).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on February 27, 2003, the committee undertook its examination of the Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004.

WITNESSES:

From the Treasury Board Secretariat:

Mr. David Bickerton, Executive Director, Expenditure Operations and Estimates Directorate, Comptrollership Branch;

Ms. Laura Danagher, Senior Director, Expenditure Operations, Comptrollership Branch.

Mr. Bickerton made an opening statement and with Ms. Danagher answered questions from members of the committee.

At 8:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
