The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:01 a.m, this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Chaput, Comeau, Day, Doody, Ferretti-Barth, Finnerty, Gauthier, Kinsella, Mahovlich, Murray, P.C. and Oliver (12).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin and Cools (2).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, and Stephen Laurent, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on June 13, 2003, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-25, the Public Service Modernization Act.

The Honourable Lucienne Robillard made an opening statement and with Mr. Jim Judd, Ms. Monique Boudrias, Mr. William Pentney Mr. Henry L. Molot and Mr. Michel LeFrançois answered questions from members of the committee.
Mr. Dan G.J. Tucker made an opening statement and with Mr. Paul Burkholder answered questions from members of the committee.
Dr. Edward Keyserlingk made an opening statement and with Mr. Pierre Martel answered questions from members of the committee.
After discussion it was agreed that the committee would undertake clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-25 on Wednesday September 17, 2003 at 6:15 p.m.
After discussion it was agreed that the committee return an amount of $26,000 from its budget to the Committee on Internal Economy and Budgets.
At 11:44 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
