The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:30 a.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Lowell Murray, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Comeau, Day, Doody, Finnerty, Gauthier, Lynch-Staunton, Mahovlich, Murray P.C., Ringuette (10).
In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, and Stephen Laurent, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Sept. 24, 2003, the committee undertook its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004.
WITNESSES:
From the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat
Mike Joyce, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure and Management Strategies Sector;
Marc Monette, Acting Director, Expenditure Operations Division, Expenditure and Management Strategies Sector.
Mr. Mike Joyce made a statement and with Mr. Marc Monette answered questions from the members of the committee.
It was agreed that the committee continue its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (A) on October 7, 2003.
At 11:06 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Sept. 24, 2003, the committee continued its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004.

Marc Monette, Acting Director, Expenditure Operations Division, Expenditure and Management Strategies Sector.
The Chairman announced that the committee's next meeting would take place on Tuesday October 21, 2003 to discuss a draft report on the Supplementary Estimates.
Mr. Joyce provided answers to questions raised at the committee's previous meeting on September 30, 2003 on Supplementary Estimates (A), 2003-2004 and with Mr. Monette answered questions from members of the committee.
At 11:02 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
