The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met at 9:05 a.m., this day, in the Waterfront room of the Manteo Resort in Kelowna, British Columbia, the Chair, the Honourable Nick G. Sibbeston, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Campbell, Christensen, Fitzpatrick, Lovelace Nicholas, Sibbeston, St. Germain, P.C., and Zimmer (7).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament: Lisa L. Patterson and Frédéric Beauregard-Tellier, analysts.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 4, 2004, the committee continued its study on the involvement of aboriginal communities and businesses in economic development activities in Canada. (See Issue No. 2, Wednesday, November 17, 2004, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)
