The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met this day at 6:06 p.m. in room 160-S of the Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Consiglio Di Nino, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Corbin, De Bané, P.C., Di Nino, Johnson, Mahovlich, Merchant, Segal, Smith, P.C. and Stollery (10).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Research Analyst.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference passed by the Senate on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, the committee continued its study of international business policy (including bilateral and multilateral trade relations, the softwood lumber agreement and others). (For the full text of the Order of Reference, see Issue No. 14, Tuesday, March 27, 2007).

The Chairman made an opening statement.
At 6:07 p.m., the Deputy Chairman took the chair.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, the committee began its study of the Department of Foreign Affairs User Fee Proposal relating to the International Youth Program.

Michel Gigault, Head, International Youth Programs Section.
The Chairman made an opening statement.
Mr. Greenshields made a presentation and, with the assistance of Mr. Gigault, answered questions.

The committee discussed future business.
