The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day, at 9:32 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Dawson, Fox, P.C., Housakos, Rivard, Seidman and Zimmer (7).

In attendance: Terry Thomas and Dillan Theckedath, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, the committee continued its study on the emerging issues related to its communications mandate and to report on the wireless sector. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)

WITNESSES:

Rogers Communications Inc.:

Bob Berner, Executive Vice-President Network and Chief Technology Officer;

Ken Engelhart, Senior Vice-President, Regulatory;

Sylvain Roy, Regional President, Quebec;

Dermot O'Carroll, Senior Vice-President, Network Engineering and Operations.

Ken Engelhart, Bob Berner, Dermot O'Carroll, and Sylvain Roy each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
