The Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met in camera this day, at 10:04 a.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Daniel Lang, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beyak, Campbell, Dagenais, Lang, McIntyre, Mitchell and Wells (7).
In attendance: Holly Porteous and Wolfgang Koerner, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).
It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room.
It was agreed that the committee seek the Senate's permission to meet in the summer for the CBSA study.
It was agreed that, effective June 18, 2014, the Honourable Senator Mitchell replace the Honourable Senator Dallaire as a member of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure.
At 10:10 a.m., pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 12, 2013, the committee continued its study on the status of Canada's international security and defence relations. Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.
At 10:26 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 11:06 a.m., the committee resumed.
It was agreed that the report be adopted as amended and that the chair table the report at the earliest opportunity.
At 2:10 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
