The Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights met in camera this day at 11:06 a.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Jim Munson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Ataullahjan, Gagné, Munson, Nancy Ruth, Ngo and Pate (7).

In attendance: Jean-Philippe Duguay and Erin Shaw, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, the committee continued its consideration of issues relating to human rights and, inter alia, to review the machinery of government dealing with Canada's international and national human rights obligations. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 3.) (Topic: Gender Based Analysis in the making of federal policy and legislation)

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera portion of the meeting.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that pursuant to the order adopted by the Senate on December 7, 2016, the membership of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be increased by one non-voting member chosen from the senators who are not members of a recognized party, to be designated after the usual consultations.

At 11:45 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
