How do you feel about working at the Senate?

I feel very lucky to be working at the Senate. What I am doing right now fits perfectly with my career path. It is a great atmosphere to work in – everyone is friendly.

What is the best thing about working at the Senate?

The best thing about working at the Senate is that they trust me and my capabilities and assign me responsibilities, which allow me to grow professionally. For instance, when a financial clerk is absent, I am delegated some of his or her portfolio. I am very grateful that my manager is accommodating regarding my work schedule.  This flexibility allows me to perfectly balance my school and work responsibilities.

What has been your greatest contribution to date?

I was asked by the Finance and Procurement Directorate to write out the steps required to pay an invoice.

What has the Senate given you?

By working at the Senate, I’ve gained work experience in my field of study. This experience has taught me about real life, a hands-on, practical accounting aspect which complements my in-class and textbook learning.

Would you consider the Senate as a potential employer following your studies? Why?

I am hoping to continue working in the Finance and Procurement Directorate once I finish school because I find working here extremely rewarding. I love to see how my contribution concretely helps out the members of my team. One of the most important aspects of a job for me is to be challenged. This aspect is being met through the variety of work that is assigned to me.
