The Special Senate Committee on the Pearson Airport Agreements met this day, at 9:00 a.m., the Chairman, the Honourable Senator MacDonald, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Bryden, Kirby, Hervieux-Payette, Jessiman, LeBreton, Lynch-Staunton, MacDonald and Tkachuk. (8)
Other Senators Present: Berntson, Kinsella.
In attendance: John Nelligan, Q.C., Counsel to the Committee
WITNESSES:
The Hon. Doug Lewis, P.C., Former Minister of Transport.
Glen Shortliffe, Former Deputy Minister of Transport.
The Committee resumed its examination of the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 4, 1995. The Clerk of the Committee administered the oath/solemn affirmation and declaration to the witness, pursuant to s.13 of the Parliament of Canada Act.
The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed that the following motion be adopted:
That relevant documents received by the Clerk of the Committee be deemed to be filed as exhibits before the committee; and
That exhibits be made available for viewing by senators, research staff and the general public at reasonable times.
At 11:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned.
At 12:35 p.m., the Committee resumed.
At 3:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
