The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 5:15 p.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Senator Pierre De Bané, P.C., presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators De Bané, Bryden, Cools, Losier-Cool, Maheu, Petten, Stratton and Taylor (8).
In attendance from the Parliamentary Centre: Dr. Edward J.D. Ketchum, Director of Research.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Barry Campbell, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister;
Paul-Henri Lapointe, General Director, Fiscal Policy and Economic Analysis Branch;
Doug Wyatt, General Counsel, General Legal Services Division;
Jon Cockerline, Chief, Debt Policy and Markets Section.
Pursuant to its Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 27, 1996, examined Bill C-10, An Act to provide borrowing authority for the fiscal year beginning on April 1, 1996.
Mr. Campbell made opening remarks and, with Messrs Lapointe, Wyatt and Cockerline, answered questions.
It was moved by the Honourable Senator Losier-Cool that Bill C-10, be reported without amendment.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 6:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
