The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Tkachuk, Bolduc, Bryden, Cools, Kelly, Hébert, Losier-Cool, Maheu, Poulin, Rizzuto, Robichaud and Stratton (12).
In attendance from the Parliamentary Centre: Dr. Edward J.D. Ketchum, Director of Research.
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Nolin.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to its Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 28, 1996, the Committee began its examination of Bill C-7, an Act to establish the Department of Public Works and Government Services and to amend and repeal certain Acts.
At 11:05 a.m., Mr. Franche made opening remarks and, with Messrs Hyde, Craig and Lefebvre, answered questions.
At 12:00 noon, Mr. Hart made a presentation.
All witnesses were questionned following Mr. Hart's presentation.
At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
