The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Tkachuk, Bolduc, Cools, De Bané, Forest, Kelly, Lavoie-Roux, Rizzuto, Stanbury and Stratton (10).
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Centre: Dr. Edward J.D. Ketchum, Director of Research.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to its Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, May 30, 1996, the Committee concluded its examination of Bill C-31, An Act to implement certains provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 6, 1996.
At 11:00 a.m., Mr. Hindle, from PIPS, made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:50 a.m., Mr. Krause, from SSEA, made an opening remarks and with Mr. Gandall answered questions.
At 12:20 p.m., Mr. Bean and Ms Turmel, from the PSAC, made a statement and answered questions.
The Honourable Senator Stanbury moved that Bill C-31 be reported without amendment.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed, on division.
At 1:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
