The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 3:49 p.m. in Room 256-S of the Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bacon, Bolduc, Corbin, De Bané, Grafstein, Stewart and Stollery.(8)
Also present: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Mr. Anthony Chapman, Economics Division.
In attendance: Official Senate reporters.
WITNESS:
From the Centre for Trade Policy and Law, Carleton Univertisty:
Mr. Wenguo Cai, Research Associate.
The committee resumed consideration of its order of reference pertaining to relations between Canada and the Asia-Pacific Region.
Mr. Cai made a presentation and answered questions.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee met in camera to consider future business.
The committee examined and approved a draft budget of $127,845 for its special study on relations between Canada and the Asia-Pacific Region.
The committee asked the Chairman to submit the draft budget to the Senate Committee on Internal Economy for its consideration.
The committee agreed to reschedule meetings for the week of November 19 to 24, 1996, given that the Senate will be in recess during this period.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
