The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met this day at 3:30 p.m. in room 256-S of the Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Corbin, Grafstein, Stewart and Stollery. (5)
Other senator present: The Honourable Noël A. Kinsella. (1)
Members of the committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the House of Commons present: MPs Eleni Bakopanos, Stéphane Bergeron, Maud Debien, Jesse Flis, Beryl Gaffney, Bill Graham (chairman) and Bob Speller. (7)
Also present: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Mr. Anthony Chapman, Economics Division and Mr. Gerald Schmitz, Political and Social Affairs Division.
In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee met with a delegation from the Joint Committee on European Affairs of the Parliament of Ireland. The delegation was composed of MPs Michael Ferris (chairman), David Andrews, Noël Davern and John Browne and of Senators Michael Calnan and Joe O'Toole.
Irish and Canadian parliamentarians discussed bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.
At 5:09 p.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
