The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 5:53 p.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Vice-Chair, the Honourable Senator Anne C. Cools presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Finestone, P.C., Kinsella, Moore, Stratton (6).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From Treasury Board Secretariat:

Joanne Toews, Assistant Secretary, Strategic Planning and Analysis, Human Resources Branch;

Ted Marks, Executive Director, Values and Ethics Office, Human Resources Branch.

From the National Farmers Union:

Richard Lloyd, Former Ontario Office Manager;

Shannon Storey, Women's President.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on February 22, 1000, the committee continued its examination of the Bill S-13, An Act to assist in the prevention of wrongdoing in the Public Service by establishing a framework for education on ethical practices in the workplace, for dealing with allegations of wrongdoing and for protecting whistleblowers.

The witnesses made their presentation and answered questions from committee members.

At 7:47 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
