The Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Kolber, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Angus, Banks, Callbeck, Christensen, Cordy, Furey, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Kelleher, P.C., Kolber, Kroft, Lynch-Staunton, Meighen, Oliver, Poulin, Robichaud, P.C. and Setlakwe (16).
In attendance: Mr. Stephen L. Harris, and from the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament, Law and Government Division: Mr. Geoff Kieley, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 12, 2001, the committee continued its examin ation of Bill S-17, An Act to amend the Patent Act.
Mr. McGlynn from the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan made a statement and answered questions.
Mr. Lee made a statement and with the other witnesses from Health Canada answered questions.
The Industry Canada officials answered questions.
At 12:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
